Production Of X-Rays

X-Rays are generated by fast moving electron strikes on anode then some heat and rays are produced those rays are called x rays and this method is called production of X-Rays.


Production Of X-Rays

  • A high voltage current is passed through the tungsten filament and its heated up.

  • As it heated up the electrons of tungsten gets exited and go up on higher energy level when the energy is higher then threshold energy and with some kinetic energy electrons start moving.

  • The electrons are negatively charged so it attracted the positively charged anode and hit copper target with a maximum energy determined by the X-Ray tube potential.

  • As the electron bombarded the target they interact via bremsstrahlung and characteristic interaction which result in the conversion of energy in to heat (99%) and X-Ray Photons (1%).

  • The X-Ray photons are released in a beam with a range of energies out of the window of the tube and form the basis for X-ray Film or images formation.
